The Live-Action Version Of Beauty And The Beast Will Have Disney's First Openly Gay Character

Time- Spoiler alert: the upcoming live-action Beauty and the Beast will feature Disney’s first-ever openly gay character. Director Bill Condon told Attitude that the character LeFou, played by Josh Gad, will get an important subplot in the film that touches on sexuality and involves villain Gaston. “LeFou is somebody who on one day wants to be Gaston and on another day wants to kiss Gaston,” Condon said. “Josh makes something really subtle and delicious out of it. And that’s what has its payoff at the end, which I don’t want to give away. But it is a nice, exclusively gay moment in a Disney movie.”

Big news out of Hollywood today which has to be seen as a two steps forward but one step back by the gay community. Finally getting Disney to have an openly gay character on the silver screen is clearly progressive and a move in the right direction. But if I was gay, I think I would want a character with a little more appeal than LeFou. And that has nothing to do with his appearance. It’s all about him being an obnoxious lackey for that blowhard, David Puddy wannabe motherfucker Gaston.

(This is an absolute fire song by the way and I respect that Gaston is a cold-blooded motherfucker, but LeFou has always been a bitch)

Yes I realize making The Beast gay kind of puts a wrench in the whole plot line. But would it have killed them to make Lumiere a gay French man? Perhaps they could say that Mrs. Potts started experimenting once she hit 50? Hell you could tell me right now that Cogsworth has been gay since 1991 and I would believe you. My point is that the first gay character should actual be likable person that was #TeamBeast instead of #TeamHardo.

And while we are making suggestions for the movie, please make Chip approximately 10,000% less creepy. Dude was cute as a button in the animated movie.

But in the live-action film he has eyes deader than KFC after Conor Gilaspie ripped out the hearts of Mets fans around the globe.

Regardless, I don’t think Amare Stoudemire will be seeing the new Beauty and the Beast when it comes out now. A spiritual gangster like STAT probably doesn’t want any part of sharing a dark movie theater with a *gasp* gay movie character.
